My name is Alexandra Estrella. I was born and raised in the border town of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, and moved to the United States with my family at the age of eight. With (almost) all straight A’s in math and science, choosing design was a bit of a surprise. I fell in love with the opportunity to have a voice that could be seen and experienced beyond numbers and formulas. I was fortunate to be brought up in a family that is not only full of creative minds but has two other graphic designers who introduced me to design. After learning more about what a career in design looked like, I began to take the small visual arts online courses my high school was able to provide and I began to push myself to start freelancing as soon as I could, but nothing would have prepared me for the craziest four years of my life in The Design School at Arizona State University. I am constantly inspired by the colors and textures found in nature; people and their potential, especially mi gente en México and our culture; and last but not least, good causes and the brands that support them.
